Director of Education at Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights UK, Sughra Ahmed, sends her message of thanks to the young people and schools participating in the Greater Manchester Poetic Declaration of Human Rights on #HumanRightsDay 2021. She discusses the importance of human rights education, fighting for equality and being a change-maker. #GMpoetic is an opportunity for young people to share the world as they see it and what they would like it to be. This project is a collaboration between Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights UK and Curious Minds.

Lead Judge, Keisha Thompson, sends her message to the young people and schools participating in the Greater Manchester Poetic Declaration on #HumanRightsDay 2021. We don't know how she picked just one poem for each Article! School children across Greater Manchester were asked to respond to one of the Articles from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Inspired by our Poetic Declaration at the Ripples of Hope Festival, in which Keisha herself responded to Article 25 - the Right to Adequate Living Standard. #GMpoetic

St Mary's Deane in Bolton share their response to the Greater Manchester Poetic Declaration of Human Rights. Each of the pupils wrote a poem about their everyday human rights. HAPPY #HUMANRIGHTSDAY Poet, Joelle Taylor, responded to Article 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the right to participate in the cultural life of the community, at the Ripples of Hope Festival. Since the festival, Joelle has been busy writing resources for the school children participating in our Greater Manchester Poetic Declaration of Human Rights. To celebrate #humanrightsday, Stockport Grammar A-Level Drama students used the poetic responses created by Key Stage 3 students to create a unique, dramatic performance that discusses our everyday human rights. The poems by Key Stage 3 were written in response to Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which state that we are all born equal in dignity and rights. The students discussed their right to education, right to equality and the right to love who they love. Their poem alongside our other schools together make the Greater Manchester Poetic Declaration of Human Rights. #GMpoetic poeticdeclaration.org
